KFC Double Down – Canada Edition Eh!

Unleashed onto the national stage April 12th, the KFC Double Down is the kind of sandwich that many would think was released 11 days too late. An April Fool’s joke might be one thing, but could this meaty concoction be real. Not only is it the real deal, but I think it’s safe to say it has become a symbol for two distinct groups; group one, who believe the sandwich is an example of everything that’s wrong with fast food, and a second group who are screaming, MORE MEAT, from the top of the lungs. Of course, this should probably also be a symbol for the Atkins crowd, but who knows how many carbs are in the breaded version. Read more…

Sourdough & A Treat From The U.S.

Welcome to another round of sourdough. After my first documented attempt (here), I think it’s safe to say that I had some struggles with my starter. And by struggles, I mean a full fledged love/hate relationship. Like the one that develops when you buy a new dog, and it won’t stop peeing indoors, no matter how many times you show it the nice soft grass outside. Yeah, like that. So while this could just be another post about bread #30 in the Bread Baker’s Apprentice Challenge, I’m also going to talk about the new wild yeast starter that showed up at my door.
