I had no idea what to expect when local foodie Gail Hall showed up at work with a delivery of peanut butter treats. Yet it shouldn’t have surprised me that the clear plastic wrap would only excite my coworkers as they pondered the treats hidden within like they were kittens behind glass at the mall. It was only a matter of time before the gift wrap was ripped from it’s protective duties and tossed onto the floor. What lay inside was quite the Kraft Peanut Butter smorgasbord.
With enough peanut butter to last me a couple of weeks in one package, everyone’s eyes went towards the individual containers. Opening to the delight of many, I found PB S’Mores, Ants-on-a-Log (a favourite of my childhood), Eggo Waffle Flutternutter Sandwiches, a Thai Peanut Dip, PB & Pretzels, along with a PB Pickle Sandwich. If Karlynn felt the treats were perfectly timed for her playful children, the cafeteria tray of treats was the all but the same for much older kids in my office. Even the sounds of mmmm, ahhh, oooooo, try this, pickle?, so good..were probably echoed across the age gap.
After sampling what I could in the attack, my favourite might have just been the peanut butter and pickle sammie. A simple salty treat that anyone could make. If you had a few more ingredients in stock, I’d suggest taking a crack at the Eggo Waffle Flutternutter Sandwich. A perfect Saturday morning breakfast/lunch, that should give you enough calories to power through a lazy day off. And while it’s rich enough on its own, I say pimp it out a bit more with an extra drizzle of peanut butter and some warmed fruit.
4 Eggo Waffles
1 tsp Kraft Asian Sesame Dressing
2 Tbsp Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Creme
2 Tbsp Kraft Whipped Peanut
2 Tbsp Kraft Crunchy Peanut Butter
If you aren’t feeling the desire to whip up these treats, then I suggest heading downtown on July 18 and having a sample at the Kraft Peanut Butter Truck. Seeing as we all have a jar of pb at home, I’m certain you’ll find something worth making when you get back to your kitchen.
In Edmonton’s downtown core, new, exciting food choices are literally popping up everywhere. This summer, Edmonton’s street eats are about to get even tastier – only this time, based on one key, much- loved ingredient: Kraft Peanut Butter. That’s right: PB-lovers can now walk up to a truck window, order a lip-smacking PB creation and enjoy!
It’s no secret: Canadians love Kraft Peanut Butter. And for over 50 years, they’ve come up with many, many creative ways to enjoy it. Now, Kraft is taking that PB love to the streets with the Kraft Peanut Butter Truck tour to celebrate and share some of the country’s most beloved PB creations developed by Canadians themselves: from old-time faves like PB&J and peanut butter and bananas to trendy offerings including PB and pretzels and a tasty Thai dip with veggies.
People all over the country have been sharing their favourite peanut butter creations and the unique memories or inspirations behind them on www.spreadthefeeling.ca. In fact, a ‘Morning Boost’ celery stick topped with smooth light peanut butter and raisins, and a ‘Sweet Peanut Butter and Pickle Sandwich’ with a dash of honey from Edmonton had such unique stories, that we’re featuring them as signature menu items on the Kraft Peanut Butter Truck this summer.
What: The Kraft Peanut Butter Truck Tour arrives in Edmonton to celebrate a distinct menu of Canada’s favourite PB creations! Watch for a 27-ft vehicle, covered in classic Kraft PB colours, prominently displaying Canada’s most beloved peanut butter creations! Walk up to the window and choose your favourite or take a tour and taste with Joanna Milroy from Kraft Peanut Butter who will be on-site available for interviews.
