You always have an onion around right? Well if you happen to have some left over buttermilk from your baking, ask yourself, “why haven’t I made onion rings?” It’s just about that damn easy.
Cut up your onion into slices and separate the rings.
Put the onion in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let everything mingle for a bit
Heat up a pot of oil to 350-375.
Make a batter by combining flour, salt, pepper and whatever other spices you like.
Toss the onion rings in the flour and mix everything around.
Shake off any excess and place the rings on a plate, wire rack etc..
Fry the rings until golden brown. Could take 4-6 minutes.
