Todd English Pub is the kind of place I’ll go to without worrying about my dollars. My previous experiences at this restaurant have helped me decide that if you a) need a decent bite of pub food or b) want a fantastic selection of craft beers, this is a great place to come. Located in the Shops At Crystals, which is just south of the Cosmopolitan hotel, it’s easy to both find and get too.
The decor isn’t that much different from other pubs, but the beer selection, free popcorn and peanuts is a plus. Remember when you used to be able to sit at a bar here in Edmonton and throw the shells anywhere. Oh how I miss those days. Anyways, the food on this occasion was no different than the past. The Pub Burger (10oz. all beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, on a brioche bun, fatty fries) was served on the rare side of medium-rare, which is exactly how every burger should be made. The brioche bun added enough support to make for a great meat vessel.
The Brown Butter Lobster Rolls (sauteed lobster pieces, aioli, housemade slaw, kettle chips) were deadly. I’m not a lobster roll expert by any means, but the richness that surrounded these little rolls made for a top three lobster roll in my life. I’d be hard pressed not to order this again on my next adventure. Also tried my first pineapple cider, which while delicious, would probably be too sweet to go multiple rounds with. All in all, another good experience here.
