Anyone out there digging the world of gut health and probiotics? In the last few years I’ve started to really get on the train and I blame Dr. Rhonda Patrick for this. The research and knowledge she has produced or shared is astounding. I’m telling you, there are serious benefits to building up your gut bacteria!
I’ve always had a soft spot for yogurt (I eat a lot!) and kimchi, so those were like the stepping stones into things. You also start adding sauerkraut to your diet, but I’m not a big fan, so that was out for the most part. From there I started adding unpasteurized apple cider vinegar and raw honey to the diet, and last year I began making my own kombucha. Maybe I should do a post on making kombucha. Eventually, I started trying various probiotic supplements to see if I can notice any specific benefits. I really want to try a month of VSL#3, as I hear great things, but it’s not cheap so I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
Anyways, when I saw that The Organic Box was carrying the Farmhouse Culture Gut Shots, I knew it was coming home at some point. On a recommendation, I ordered the Ginger Beet bottle, two flavours I really enjoy. It’s easy enough to have a shot every morning before work, so I can see how people could easily make this a part of their regular routine. Plus, every time I pour gut shots, I started hearing Lil’ John in my head. It’s not the cheapest way to get probiotics, but then again, probiotic supplements in general aren’t that cheap.
Have you tried these Gut Shots? Are you taking any probiotics? Would love to know in the comments below. Also, if you want to grab a bottle of Gut Shot from The Organic Box – use the code “OrganicBunch20” for $20 off your first order!
